You are cordially invited to join NYU English's Modern and Contemporary Colloquium (MACC) for:

A work-in-progress discussion with Doug Battersby 
(Stanford University, University of Bristol).

Doug will be providing a short overview of his current book project, Cardiac Realism and the Novel Form, and is looking to test some of its larger claims, especially about the under-recognised influence of Victorian strategies of affective description on a particular strand of modernist prose. Graduate student and faculty respondents from NYU English and NYU Comparative Literature will offer feedback and questions to open up the conversation.
