This event is a timely conversation whose value is maximized by the presence of many top-level U.N. week attendees to discuss global challenges and possible solutions. The panel discussion will focus on education, entrepreneurship and employment in Africa. It will highlight how the African continent can turn the 90m youth aged 20-24 into a youth dividend which harnesses all economic sectors to increase access to education, entrepreneurship and employment. The right mix of equitable educational opportunities that will provide jobs and training for entrepreneurship must be deployed now to head off the large numbers of students studying overseas (374,000 in 2017 compared to 156,000 two decades earlier.)
CONFIRMED PANELISTS: Elozi Lomponda, CEO of Books on Canoes operating in the Democratic Republic of Congo and a team member of the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs in Belgium, Leila Ndiaye, President and CEO of Initiative for Global Development, Leonard Wantchekon, founder of the African School of Economics in Benin, Yaw Nyarko, Professor of Economics at New York University and Director of the Africa House, and Hubert Danso, CEO and Vice Chairman, Africa Investor (Ai) Group. (NOTE: more panelists may be confirmed; Keynote speakers TBD).
