Wynn Gadkar-Wilcox specializes in the intellectual history, literary history, and historiography of Vietnam from the eighteenth to the twentieth centuries, and has secondary interests in cross-cultural relations, world history, religion, and philosophy. He is the author of Allegories of the Vietnamese Past: Unification and the Production of a Modern Historical Identity (Yale Southeast Asia Studies, 2011), and East Asia and the West (with Xiaobing Li and Yi Sun) (Cognella, 2019), and the editor of Vietnam and the West: New Approaches (Cornell SEAP, 2010).
