The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in New York opened in 1949 and covers five states in the northeastern United States. For more than 70 years, the Consulate has been working to unite the Korean community and empower them, as well as strengthening cooperative relations and enhancing bilateral people-to-people exchanges. With this year marking the 70th anniversary of the ROK-U.S. alliance, NYU's Department of East Asian Studies will host a lecture and Q&A by Euy Whan Kim, Consul General of the Republic of Korea, discussing partnerships between the Republic of Korea and the U.S.
