As part of the State Holiday law on July 20, 1948, the "Day of Culture" (文化の日) was promulgated on November 3, 1946. Recognized in the new Constitution as Japan shifted its focus on "peace and culture." It has been situated in a leading role as a day of recognition of many cultural practices.
