A poetry reading by Ama Codjoe and Rio Cortez, followed by a reception/signing.

Visitors (i.e. anyone who is not a current NYU student or employee) should be prepared to present proof of compliance and a government-issued ID if asked to do so.

Ama Codjoe is the author of Bluest Nude. She is also the author of Blood of the Air, winner of the Drinking Gourd Chapbook Poetry Prize. Her honors include a 2017 Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers’ Award, a Creative Writing Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, a NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship, and a Jerome Hill Artist Fellowship. Codjoe’s work has twice appeared in The Best American Poetry. She lives in New York City.

Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, Rio Cortez’s debut poetry collection, Golden Ax (Penguin Books) was longlisted for the 2022 National Book Award in Poetry. Her work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Buzzfeed, Adroit Journal, and elsewhere. She is also the author of the New York Times Bestselling picture book The ABCs of Black History (Workman Kids). She lives, works, and writes in Harlem with her family.
