Akwaeke Emezi is an Igbo and Tamil writer and video artist, whose debut novel Freshwater (Grove Press, 2018) is a New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice and is currently long-listed for the Center for Fiction’s First Novel Prize. Emezi is a 2016 Kimbilio Fellow and has received support from the Global Arts Fund, the Sozopol Fellowship for Creative Nonfiction, and the 2015 Morland Writing Scholarship. She is also a celebrated video artist and memoirist.
