Hosted by: Timothy Duffy (Comp Lit), Phillip Usher (French & Comp Lit), and the Comparatorium of the NYU Department of Comparative Literature.
We are used to narratives of the decomposed humanities as well as suggestions for their resurrection and re-composition. This event is in response to, but not limited by, the suggestions launched in New Literary History 47.2&3 ("Recomposing the Humanities--with Bruno Latour"). Come discuss and critique possible futures of our shared endeavors.
Some suggested readings from the issue are noted below and will be distributed beforehand (contact Laryssa Witty at laryssa.witty@nyu.edu for readings).
"Demodernizing the Humanities with Latour" - Graham Harman
"Latour, the Digital Humanities, and the Divided Kingdom of Knowledge" - Michael Witmore
"Humanities in the Anthropocene: The Crisis of an Enduring Kantian Fable" - Dipesh Chakrabarty
"Life among Conceptual Characters" - Bruno Latour
