This talk is part of a larger project that traces the development of the literary critical program in Walter Benjamin's writing. The starting point of this project, Benjamin's reading of Friedrich Hölderlin, will be the subject of this talk. The specific focus will be on how Benjamin's critique of
Lebensphilosophie diverges from Theodor Adorno's attempt to capture it in his essay, "Parataxis."
