Selected work by undergraduates in our Junior Theory Seminar: Documentary Turns, was just featured on the Unarchive blog of the legendary journal Diacritics. Like many other archivally-focused classes, our seminar abruptly transitioned from physical to digital archives in March, at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. You can read Cristina Vatulescu’s meditation on Teaching, Learning and Creating in an Archive Gone Digital, and follow the links to student contributions that stretch over various mediums, from artbook, to video, photobooks, essays, and even an Italo Disco broadcasting archive, designed to bring joy at a time when Italy, and New York, most needed it. Don’t miss the artist statements, also linked in the framing essay. This is the first time that undergraduate work is featured in Diacritics!
