Postdoctoral scientists are a vital part of our research community, and the Center for Neural Science is committed to helping postdocs develop the skills they need to pursue independent careers in academia and beyond. In addition to laboratory research, postdoctoral training at NYU includes workshops and short courses on career development, communication skills, technical tutorials, and developing a research plan. Postdocs at NYU have many opportunities to present their work to other NYU postdocs, to the department, and to the broader NYU neuroscience community. These include an internal seminar series, annual retreats, and by-postdoc/for-postdoc events such as chalk talks and workshops. Postdocs are encouraged to create mentorship teams during their first year, which provide an opportunity for networking and receiving supportive feedback on research and career issues.

The administrative team at CNS includes HR specialists who can help with immigration issues and grant specialists who can help with postdoc awards including private fellowships and NIH grants, such as pathway to independence awards.
