CNS Lab Talks - The goals of this seminar series is to provide more speaking opportunities, to learn more about current work within our department, and to encourage new collaborations between our labs.
Neuroscience Colloquia - This series is sponsored jointly by the Center for Neural Science (CNS) and neuroscience groups within the NYU Medical Center. Lectures are held on Mondays at 12:30 p.m. for the Center for Neural Science and 12 noon for the Medical Center.
Swartz Seminar - This series focuses on theoretical and computational neuroscience. Talks are held Fridays at noon.
Responsible Conduct in Research (RCR) - This series covers scientific integrity and other skills and concepts essential to research scientists. Open to graduate students and postdocs. Must be taken every five years. Held every Spring semester.
First and Third Year Talks - graduate students present their research-in-progress. Held every Fall semester.
Vision Journal Club - Presentation and discussion of current research topics in vision and optics. Generally held Thursdays at 4pm.
Growing Up In Science (GUIS) - a conversation series featuring personal narratives of becoming and being a scientist. Events are held on Friday late afternoons.
Workshop on Race and Racism in Science - a four week short course sponsored by the Department of Psychology, the Department of Biology, and the Center for Neural Science.
Symposia
CNS Symposia - Since 1991, the Center has organized and hosted a biennial international symposium in neuroscience, which brings scholars from the finest laboratories in the world to New York University for a two to four-day conference.
Computational Neuroscience Symposia - an annual event that brings together the computational neuroscience community across departments at NYU, and highlights work by trainees and faculty in NYU's Training Program in Computational Neuroscience (TPCN).
CNS Retreats
In alternate years, the Center sponsors a weekend retreat at which research presentations are blended with informal discussion groups and social activities.
Special Events
Every semester additional special events are scheduled by and for the undergraduate program, the doctoral program, and the neuroscience community at large. These will be announced via email and listed on the main events calendar.
