Neurobiology of Brain Disorders

Description: This course will explore the biological basis of multiple diseases of the brain. Lectures will be based on the primary literature and will link basic, translational, and clinical research, covering the genetic, developmental, molecular, and cellular mechanisms underlying major categories of brain disorders. Examples of brain disorders that will be discussed include neurodevelopmental disorders (autism spectrum disorder and fragile X syndrome), neuropsychiatric disorders (schizophrenia and addiction), and neurodegenerative disorders (Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and frontotemporal dementia).
