NYU Shanghai and its partner East China Normal University jointly operate an Institute of Brain and Cognitive Science. IBCS has a broad vision and the areas of research include neural circuit mechanisms of cognitive function (such as decision-making and human language), and inter-disciplinary computational neuroscience. IBCS is currently recruiting doctoral students.
Students in the IBCS neural science track complete the same requirements as students in the NYC neural science program. Shanghai-track students spend their first summer in Shanghai and then one and half years in New York for course work and laboratory rotations, before joining a laboratory in Shanghai for their thesis research. They will maintain a close tie with New York, and they will receive an NYU Ph.D.
Applicants interested in applying to the Shanghai track of the Doctoral program in Neural Science can apply using the application link on the right, and should select the Shanghai campus on the first page of the application form.
