Ras protein is frequently mutated in cancers and is the subject of intense drug discovery efforts. The study shows that mimics of Sos, which is an endognenous regulator of Ras, can bind wild type and oncogenic forms of Ras and modulate downstream signaling. The paper, entitled "A Sos proteomimetic as a pan-Ras inhibitor" was published in PNAS. In addition to graduate students Hong and Yoo (currently a postdoc at MIT), authors include colleagues at Scripps, NYU Chemistry alumnus Khyle Richards-Corke (currently a grad student at Harvard) and Professor Bobby Arora.
