This 4.5 million dollar award to be run out of NYU will include U. Minnesota, U. Florida, and Brigham Young University, as well as industry collaborators at Amazon Web Services (as unfunded partners). SCHUMER, GILLIBRAND ANNOUNCE $4.5 MILLION FOR DEVELOPMENT OF MACHINE LEARNING AT NYU
WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand announced $4,500,000 in federal funding for the development of machine learning models at New York University. The federal funding was allocated through the National Science Foundation and will be used to establish new technologies and software infrastructure necessary for the development of machine learning models that are critical to addressing scientific and engineering challenges.
“I’m proud to support this federal funding for New York University, one our country’s leading research institutions, to develop machine learning models,” said Senator Schumer. “NYU’s project will ensure that New York, and the country, remain at the cutting edge of developing new technologies, like machine learning, to benefit scientific research, educational advancement and economic development. I won’t stop fighting for the federal funds needed to support New York’s research projects and institutions.”
