The application of chemical approaches is poised to rapidly advance our understanding of how biology functions at the molecular level. Recent advances across chemical biology now allow for the efficient synthesis of sophisticated molecules to probe biological pathways and design new therapeutic modalities. The goal of this Nature Conference is to provide a forum for discussing innovative strategies for future research in chemical biology. The conference will cover the breadth of chemical biology ranging from DNA as material and sensors, regulation of gene expression, synthesis and derivatization of proteins, synthetic biology and the human microbiome. We expect that this conference will facilitate interdisciplinary collaborations that will drive new frontiers at the interface of chemistry and biology.
