Members of the Gresham Lab published a paper in Molecular Biology of the Cell describing how gene expression programs in yeast respond to changes in their extracellular environment. The Gresham Lab found that the degradation rate of some mRNAs is accelerated in response to a change in environmental nitrogen. This suggests that post-transcriptional regulation of mRNA stability is regulated to respond to dynamic environments.
