CGSB faculty member Matt rockman has been awarded funds to generate thousands of recombinant diatoms, in order to map genes responsible for variation in cell-biological traits. In collaboration with Dan Needleman (Harvard), Wym Vyverman (Ghent), and Aaron Turkewitz (Chicago), he will be sequencing the genomes of 9,600 strains of Seminavis robusta as part of an $8 million Moore Foundation Marine Microbiology Initiative.
