David Gresham and PhD student, Jungeui Hong, have published a review of the functional basis of adaptive evolution of yeast and bacteria in chemostats. In this article they argue that the chemostat is an ideal system for integrating evolutionary and functional approaches to study the evolution of genetic networks.
