"Alía Rebeka Warsco, the recipient of the Sapir Prize, is a joint major in Anthropology and Linguistics. She has studied language ideology, language discrimination, and language documentation. Her interests include how language affects access to housing, healthcare, and due judicial process, as well as the intimate tie language has to identity for Indigenous communities in the United States. An excellent student, Alía displays deep intellectual curiosity in her contributions to classroom discussions and her thought-provoking papers.
