Archaeologist and art historian Bet Hucks will discuss some of the ways personal stories can help develop new research perspectives and discuss the limits of modern approaches to the past, especially regarding communities who did not leave behind extensive written archives or archaeological artifacts. How can we try to answer questions about individual identity and shared cultural values using approaches from material culture, and what other paths are available?
