I’m Hannah and I have been the Cultural Program’s intern for three months now. I’m from Vienna, Austria and graduated in theatre, film and media sciences from the University of Vienna. Working at Deutsches Haus and living in New York has been a great experience. The city has so much to offer on every level and I enjoyed the great variety of events at Deutsches Haus and managing their social media activities. It is not as easy as it sounds to come up with new words and photos to go along with them every week, but it has been so much fun and I have to say it was my great pleasure to bring a little bit of Austrian flavor to Deutsches Haus. It will be very hard to hand over the reins.
My name is Nikki and I am one of the Cultural Program interns at Deutsches Haus at NYU. I recently finished my first undergraduate year at St. Andrews University in Scotland and plan to major in German, Russian, and Management. Before coming to Deutsches Haus I worked as an intern for Rachael Ray Productions, assisting in social media advertisement and magazine photography, and taught English at an orphanage in Peru. During my time interning at Deutsches Haus I have met an amazing group of people and have assisted in event organization and running the various media platforms. I am also very excited about the opportunity to broaden my understanding of German culture and language while working here!
I’m Paol, and I’m the new intern at the Cultural Program of Deutsches Haus at NYU. I’m 27, and was born and raised in the beautiful capital of Germany, Berlin, where I have just finished up my master’s program at the JFK Institute for North American Studies. I’ve lived in the U.S. before – one year in Austin, Texas and a semester at UNC Chapel Hill – and I’ve been to NYC a few times before, but only ever as a tourist, and so I’m really looking forward to actually living in this great city. I’m only in my second week at Deutsches Haus, but I’m already really enjoying working here, which is largely due to the very welcoming staff. The work itself is not only fun, but also challenging and I’m broadening my cultural and professional horizons on a daily basis
My name is Eva and I am a language intern at Deutsches Haus at NYU. I graduated from the University of Zurich in Switzerland, holding a Master’s degree in English linguistics and literature and general history. Since I want to become an English high school teacher in Switzerland and have always wanted to work in Manhattan, being an intern at Deutsches Haus is the perfect opportunity for me to gain some work experience and discover the New York lifestyle. I have already taught a variety of subjects at several schools in Switzerland and have worked as a German language and teacher’s assistant for one year at two colleges in Northern Ireland. Additionally, I have also worked for a radio station in Liechtenstein. Being part of the great Deutsches Haus team has been an amazing experience and although I have only been in Manhattan for a few weeks now, I must say, that I am already in love with this city!
