Hi everybody! My name is Martin, and I am the new Cultural Program Intern. Currently, I am doing my master’s degree in Theory and Practice of professional Writing and North American Studies at the University of Cologne, where I also work as a student assistant. After my bachelor’s in English and Media Studies, I wanted to specialize further and find a combination of creative writing and academic education that would help me find my place. (I have not found it yet, but I’ll keep you posted.) What makes me most optimistic right now are the beautiful books full of ideas that allow us to travel and change our perspective. If there is one thing this past year has taught us, it's that there is an immense power in words, and that we have a lot of agency within our little circles to make the world a better place for everybody.
Although I would love to work in-person at Deutsches Haus at NYU, it is nonetheless a wonderful privilege to be part of the community remotely. I am looking forward to our upcoming events and, in the meantime, will bombard you with Schimpfwörter and fun facts to make this cultural exchange as joyous and endearing as possible.
