Video Block component

The Video Block component provides an easy-to-use method to add a video to the page. It can display Component Title, Title, Sub Title, Video and support text. 

Note: The component ONLY accepts video from Vimeo and Youtube. 

Note: A thumbnail image of the video is required for the component to render properly. Please prepare a thumbnail before authoring the component.

To load the component

To load Video Block component onto the page:

  1. Open Side Panel if closed, and then click on Components tab
  2. Drag and drop the Video Block component.

To configure the Video Block component

Note: Make sure the video is shareable. The component is not able to display video that is NOT shareable.

  1. Click on the component to display the Edit bar.
  2. Click on Configure icon (wrench) to open the Configure panel.
  3. Fill out all necessary field. 
  4. Fill out the Video Source URL: embed url path of the video from Vimeo, Youtube, or NYU Stream. To obtain the video embed path, please follow these steps:
  • For Youtube:
    • Click on Share at the Option bar below the video
    • Switch to Embed tab
    • In the iFrame code, ONLY copy the video path, for example:
      <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ABCD1234567" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
    • You can also use the Video embed code extractor page to obtain the video path.
  • For Vimeo:
    • Click on Share when hover over the video
    • In the popup window, ONLY copy the video path, for example:
      <iframe src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/1234567890?title=0&byline=0&portrait=0" width="640" height="360" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen></iframe>
    • You can also use the Video embed code extractor page to obtain the video path.

  • For NYU Stream:
  1. Drag and drop an image to the Banner Image field.
  2. Click Done icon (check mark) to save your progress. This should close the Configure panel and display the authored video block.

Troubleshooting

The video is not showing up after I added the video link.
Double check the video link, make sure it is correct. Also, make sure you have a thumbnail of the video. The component requires a thumbnail image to rendering properly.

I cannot copy the video link on Vimeo.
If you're having difficulty select the video path, copy the whole code to a text editor and then copy the video path.

Can I upload video to the DAM and then link to it?
Users should NOT upload large files to the DAM since this will impact the performance of the CMS. We strongly encourage users utilize third party video streaming service site such as Youtube or Vimeo to handle the large video files and uninterrupted streaming service.
