Troubleshooting
3rd party search engines are listing pages on our site that are no longer exist, should I create a redirect for that?
You should not create a redirect because of the invalid links on the 3rd party search engine's search result page. This action will:
- confuse the search engine's crawlers and could end up with a duplicated search result
- generate a lot of unnecessary empty pages and slow down the system.
To properly handle a broken link on 3rd party search engines search result pages, we recommend you first submit a removal request to the 3rd party search engines (Google, Bing, etc.) and let the 3rd party search engines remove the incorrect search results from the listing. Second, give the search engines some time to re-crawl the site. Third, you can submit an add URL request to the 3rd party search engines (Google, Bing, etc.) to expedite the crawling process.
