Hi CMS user,
Our team is getting ready to upgrade the CMS authoring environment (ursa.cms.nyu.edu) to a newer version in October. While your experience with the Arts & Science CMS will largely remain the same, this upgrade will introduce some minor changes to how you navigate pages, import and manage assets, and edit content on your pages.
Why are we upgrading?
- Upgrading ensures our CMS is secure and uses the latest supported version.
- We’ll be upgrading to the cloud as NYU retires on-premise data centers.
- Upgrading allows us to leverage future CMS features as they become available.
What to expect
- The overall design, content organization, and experience of your website is remaining the same.
- The page authoring experience, digital asset manager (DAM), and how you navigate the CMS is remaining the same but will look different.
- Available templates and page components will remain the same, but some configuration options will look different.
- Published pages will remain available on the live site during the upgrade period, but page edits made during the transition may need to be replicated after the upgrade is completed. We will provide more details as we get closer.
Next steps
- Training sessions will be available if you want to learn more about the updated authoring environment. Stay tuned for more details.
- Your published page content will remain the same, but if you need to preserve content from previous page versions, we recommend you begin doing that now before the upgrade. Consider copying content to Google Docs or taking screenshots to save page versions.
No additional steps will need to be taken by content authors, but please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. More information and specific timeline details will be shared in the coming weeks.
