New Event Detail

READ BEFORE YOU PROCEED:

Before creating an event, you should make sure to be in the correct subfolder within the event page. Events should NOT be created directly in the top-level event page (event page folder) since this will create maintenance issues in the long run. If you are uncertain where to create the event, please contact A&S Communications and we'll be glad to help you figure out where to put your event.

1. Create a new page. Select the appropriate template to create a new Event Detail page. (Fig. 1)
   1. Navigate to the child semester page within the event folder in your academic unit.
   2. Click Create Page and then select Event Detail Page template.
   3. In the Properties screen, fill in the Title in the Basic tab.
   4. In the Event tab, use the Date Picker to select a start date (required), and fill out any necessary fields.
   5. Click Create button to create the page.
      
      
2. Hide the page from the main navigation. Once the page is created, make sure you hide the page from the main navigation.
   1. With the page open in edit mode, click on the Page Information icon, and then click on Open Properties.
   2. In the Page Information panel, select Basic tab. Under Title and Tags section, check Hide in Navigation.
      
      
3. Configure components as needed.
   
   • Generic Content component for event detail information.
   • Social Media Share component for social media share function.
   • Gallery component for any multimedia contents that are related to the event, such as promotional video, photo gallery from last year event, etc.
     
   • You can also add additional components such as Basic Image or Generic Content to deliver important event information.
     
     
     
4. Publish the page.
