Guidelines: CLACS Tinker Foundation Field Research Grants 2021-2022
Overview
The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at New York University invites NYU graduate students to apply for a Tinker Foundation Field Research Grant to conduct field research in Latin America and the Caribbean. Awards generally cover travel and related expenses; awards are generally between $1,000 to $3,000. These field research grants are intended for pre-dissertation or thesis field research by students at early-stage doctoral and master’s levels, or by those pursuing professional degrees. Students whose research was postponed by COVID-19 restrictions are especially encouraged to apply. CLACS Tinker Foundation Field Research Grants are available for field research conducted between December 15, 2021 and August 30, 2022 in the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
Rolling Deadline
For priority consideration, students should submit a complete application by November 14, 2021. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis thereafter until funds are expended.
COVID-19 & Travel Restrictions
All travel supported in part by New York University must follow the university’s health, safety, and approval protocols. As of October 2021, travel to "Level Three" and "Level Four" countries, as rated by the United States Department of State, will require an exception from the NYU Travel Review Committee. Please submit your request to travelsafety@nyu.edu. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention hosts an online portal with guidance for international travel and recommendations for vaccinated travelers.
