The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies announces Faculty Research Grants of up to $2,000 to support research related to Latin America and the Caribbean. Between six to eight grants will be awarded. Faculty research grants are funded jointly by the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies at NYU and the US Department of Education (Title VI-NRC). Please note special terms associated with Federal Grants. Research grants are available to all full-time Faculty or Library staff at NYU.
Title VI funding may be used for research on Latin America and the Caribbean. Unfortunately, projects focusing on US-based ethnic communities and Puerto Rico do not qualify.
Research monies may be used for travel to any country in Latin America or the Caribbean (or elsewhere, as relevant) to carry out research; such travel is subject to the Fly America Act and requires pre-approval by the Department of Education. Travel must be booked on U.S. airline carriers or airlines within an alliance with a U.S. carrier i.e. Star Alliance. Flights booked prior to the receipt of the grant cannot be reimbursed. Grants may also be used for lodging, per diem, data-gathering, books and materials, and other expenses that facilitate faculty research.
