Brownout is an eight-piece, Latin funk ensemble based in Austin, Texas, known for their parallel projects as the Grammy-Winner Grupo Fantasma. They trace their roots to Austin based Blue Noise Band and The Blimp, as well as the booming border town of Laredo, Texas. Their recent release “Fear of a Brown Planet” is a tribute to the Public Enemy record of 1990.
Third Root is a Hip-Hop project that consists of Charles Peters (Easy Lee), Marco Cervantes (Mexican StepGrandfather), andDJ Chicken George (DJCG). Peters is an accomplished poet/author/MC & educator. Cervantes is a producer/MC/Ph.D. who teaches at the University of Texas at San Antonio and DJCG is a world renowned DJ, musicologist, designer and Jazztronica! Peddler.
