The Cary 100 Bio spectrophotometer is ideal for routine laboratory work and is controlled by the Cary WinUV software. This Windows based software features a modular design which makes it easy to use. It has a working range past 3.5 absorbance units (AU) and variable slits. The instrument comes with a 6 x 6 peltier multicell holder and a temperature controller unit. The peltier thermostattable multicell holder features, use of rotating magnetic fields to provide magnetic stirring in each of the 12 cells, built-in cell lifting, Peltier blocks fitted down both sides of the cuvette positions, and a water channel that evenly encircles the cell block. The temperature range is from about -10 °C to 100 °C, ideal for DNA/RNA melting temperature determination.

The Jasco J-1500 Circular Dichroism spectrometer is generally considered an essential tool for the secondary structure analysis of peptides/proteins and nucleic acids. In addition, it can be used to follow the changes in folding as a function of temperature, and is also useful for measuring protein-ligand and nucleic acid-ligand interactions. This CD instrument equipped with an automated and thermostat six-sample holder, a micro sampling disk (1-2 µL extremely low sample volume), a wavelength range from 163 to 950 nm, and a wide temperature range from -40 °C to +130 °C. In addition, it also comes with a FDCD PMT detector and an ExPMT module for extended wavelength from 450 to 1250 nm.

The Horiba PTI QuantaMaster 400 Fluorescent Spectrometer is an extremely sensitive bench-top fluorimeter with a signal to noise ratio of 20,000 to 1. With this high sensitivity it allows the minute traces of fluorescent materials to be detected and identified in samples. This system features state-of-the-art high throughput monochromators with a triple motorized grating turret for easy extension of the spectral range and motorized flipping mirrors to make it easy to work with additional light sources and detectors. The system is controlled with PTI’s FelixGX program for data acquisition and processing. The emission range for this system is from 185 nm to 680 nm with the detection limit of 400 attomolar of fluorescein solution in 0.1 M NaOH. It also equipped with an automated temperature controlling unit allowing precise variable temperature control from -25 °C to 105 °C.

The P-2000 is an excellent instrument to study the optical activity of inorganic and organic molecules and materials and is widely used in the food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
The P-2000 offers a response speed as fast as 6° per second to provide reproducible data for each measurement with a resolution of 0.0001°. The accuracy of the Polarimeter is ±0.002 (up to 1°). Its wide dynamic range of up to ±90° enables the system to measure chiral compounds over a broad range of concentrations. The measurement modes that the P-2000 polarimeter could perform include Optical Rotation, Optical Specific Rotation, Concentration, Sugar Scale Z, Brix Purity, and Optical Purity.
Our P-2000 is equipped with both a Na and Hg lamp with 6 interface filters for wavelengths 365, 405,436, 546, 578, 589 nm. The automatic light source switching mirror allows for simple experiment setup. We also have two cylindrical glass cells (10 mm x 100mm and 3.5 mm x 100mm) that can be borrowed while onsite.

The Molecular Devices FlexStation 3 multi-mode microplate reader has a dual optical systems operating above and below the microplates, measuring absorbance, fluorescence intensity, fluorescence polarization, luminescence, and time-resolved fluorescence (5 detection modes). This compact benchtop system integrates multi-mode microplate optics with precision, programmable liquid handling for perfectly timed, automated biochemical and cell-based assays. Using an 8- or 16-channel pipettor, the FlexStation 3 reader offers added assay flexibility over dispenser-based systems by transferring reagents from 96 or 384 distinct wells in a source plate to a read plate simultaneously. In addition, users can define individual reagents and concentrations to be delivered to each well.
