CEMS Alumni Placements
As an interdisciplinary program, the master’s in European and Mediterranean program attracts students from from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds. In turn, CEMS students go on to pursue an equally varying range of careers and advanced degrees. To give a snapshot of the past few years of graduates:
Between 2017-2019:
- CEMS graduated 24 master’s students in European and Mediterranean Studies
- 87.5% of graduates found employment beyond the entry-level in the public, nonprofit, and private sectors or enrolled in advanced degree programs
- 21% enrolled in advanced degree programs within one to two years of graduation, including Cornell Law School; a PhD in International Relations and Human Rights at the London School of Economics; a PhD in Security Studies at Kansas State; a PhD program in Cultural Studies at Bowling Green State; a PhD in Genocide Studies at Clark University. **In addition, a September 2020 graduate enrolled in a PhD program with the School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics, Queen’s University (Belfast).
- Employment positions within one year of graduation included:
- Reporting/journalism and editorial positions with domestic and international news agencies;
- Professional administrative/research positions at U.S. based universities;
- Foreign Service Officer in the U.S. Army;
- Junior positions with nonprofit organizations and foundations;
- Middle school teacher;
- Private sale representative position with an international auction house based in NYC
