At the start of the Fall and Spring semesters, the Office of Alumni Relations works closely with the CAS Advising Office to match alumni mentors with student mentees for both the CAS Proud to Be First program and the CAS Second-Year Leadership Institute (SYLI). Please note that the CAS Alumni-Student Mentorship Program is open to College of Arts and Science alumni only, including Washington Square College and Heights alumni.
What are the responsibilities of a mentor?
- Working with your mentee to schedule at least one informational interview via phone, Skype, or preferably in-person. This meeting is to discuss your occupation, roles, job functions, and share career advice and strategies with your mentee.
- Acting as an approachable and informational resource for your mentee.
- The program is adaptable to the needs of individual participants.
LAWYER ALUMNI MENTORING PROGRAM
The Lawyer Alumni Mentoring Program (LAMP) offers CAS students one-on-one mentoring with experienced, practicing attorneys who received their undergraduate degrees from CAS. Mentors provide insight into various aspects of the legal profession, offer advice on choosing law schools and careers, and, in some cases, make internship opportunities available for their students.
