Preliminary Data on Candidate Pool/EEO Form
In keeping with the institutional goals of improving equity, diversity and inclusion, and to support the University’s efforts to provide equal opportunities for employment, the recruitment and hiring process for academic roles has recently been revised. Please follow the steps below to recruit and hire new full-time faculty positions including tenure and tenure track faculty, Visiting Professors, Language Lectures, Faculty Fellows and Clinical Professors. The new process utilizes NYU’s new Recruitment and Hiring Policy and Procedures for Full-time Faculty. Please refer to the NYU Recruiting Policy for more information.
In addition to the University policy, FAS has employed an additional step in the recruitment process to ensure all EEO requirements are met.
Please submit The Preliminary Data on Faculty Candidate Pool (EEO Form), along with the c.v’s of the finalists selected to be interviewed to the appropriate Divisional Dean for approval of candidate visits and scheduling meetings with the Dean. A cover letter must accompany the form providing a description of the search, cost estimates for visits and whether any of the finalists are women or members of underrepresented minority groups. If women or minority groups are not sufficiently represented, the letter should indicate the circumstances that resulted in the final pool of candidates. Candidate visits will not be authorized until this information is forwarded to the Dean. The ethnicity and gender of the pool is broken out for you in Interfolio and should be attached to the EEO form.
When a finalist is selected by the department, the department Chair will communicate their decision to the Divisional Dean before a formal offer is made to a candidate in writing. The Divisional Dean will extend the offer to the candidate.
Please note with the advent of Interfolio: Faculty Search and in accordance with NYU’s Recruiting and Hiring Policy and Procedures, the “Affirmative Action Recruitment Report” (AARR) is no longer needed in the recruitment process. However, if a formal search was not undertaken via Interfolio (e.g. a visiting professor appointment) a Waiver Request Form must be submitted.
The Waiver Request Form is available here.
All candidates for a Full-Time Faculty Position or for a Professional Research Staff position, even where the search was waived, must complete an application in Interfolio and upload relevant materials as indicated in the posting.
To create a position in Interfolio, please see the following link: Creating Positions in Interfolio Faculty Search.
More detailed information on recruitment procedures is available at the Office of the Associate Dean: Policies and Procedures in the following links:
