David Liebowitz has been an investment professional for over 30 years. Mr. Liebowitz is the managing partner of the investment firm Aroya Capital, LP. The firm specializes in the arbitrage of equity volatility derivatives.
Prior to founding Aroya Capital, Mr. Liebowitz had served Bear Stearns in a number of capacities from 1983 to 2005. His area of expertise encompassed both risk arbitrage and convertible arbitrage. Throughout his tenure at Bear Stearns he was responsible for managing both proprietary trading strategies as well as client assets. In 1993 Mr. Liebowitz was elected to the Board of Directors of The Bear Stearns Companies, Inc., serving as a director until 2001.
Mr. Liebowitz has a long affiliation with New York University. He earned a BS degree (1980) and an MBA (1983) from New York University’s Stern School of Business. His youngest daughter expects to graduate from the NYU College of Nursing in 2015. His father is a graduate of the NYU School of Medicine class of 1956. Mr. Liebowitz’s paternal grandfather was a graduate of the NYU Stern School of Business class of 1928. His maternal grandfather was a graduate of the NYU Stern School of Business class of 1926 and the NYU School of Law class of 1929.
Mr. Liebowitz has previously served as a trustee of Greenwich Academy, Greenwich, CT and Blair Academy, Blairstown, NJ. He resides in New York City with his wife and youngest son.
