We're grateful to invite one of XE's Visiting Scholars, Dawn Chan, to give a talk that will be open to all.
A critic and writer, Dawn Chan currently serves as senior web editor at Artforum, where she has worked on the editorial staff for nearly a decade. Chan's writing has been published in the New York Times, Artforum, Bookforum, and the New Yorker's website, among other venues. She has been a visiting critic at RISD and CCNY, and her research on Asia-futurism was featured in MoMA's R&D Salon series in 2016.
Chan's background was in computational vision and machine learning, and she guest edited 'Common Minds', Triple Canopy's series on the contemporary infatuation with the brain. The essays she has penned appear in monographs for the Okayama Art Summit and for such artists as Ai Weiwei and Luis Gispert.
Her work focuses on the intersections of visual art, culture, and technology.
