"THE IMAGE UNBOUND: REPETITION AND REPLICATION IN MESOPOTAMIAN ART"
Zainab Bahrani, Columbia University
Part of the Silsila spring 2019 Lecture Series, Replication
The Image Unbound is an exploration of the nature of Mesopotamian images and how they participate in the space of life. The lecture expands and builds upon the speaker’s early work on the double, repetition and replication as structures and forms of ancient near eastern art.
Zainab Bahrani is the Edith Porada Professor of Art History and Archaeology, Columbia University, New York. Her most recent books are The Infinite Image: Art, Time and the Aesthetic Dimension in Antiquity (2014) and Mesopotamian Art (2017).
