The Lerner Fund for Undergraduate Students
The Religious Studies Program, through the generous contribution of the Lerner family, has established a fund to support undergraduate students with research projects and participation in conferences. The Lerner Fund is available to all majors and minors within the program.
Pursuing academic research and/or attending a conference or workshop are valuable experiences that can enrich a student’s understanding of a discipline. The purpose of this fund is to encourage students to pursue research activities within their field and to assist with the cost of research related material and/or the cost of registration and travel to a conference. Projects should be focused on an area within the study of religion. This, in turn, will help to further their Religious Studies education while contributing to the field.
Students may apply via the online application (link).
Funding of up to $1000.00 will be given on a reimbursement basis to those selected. Original receipts for all incurred expenses (hotel, air/train fare, conference registration, simple meals and local transportation) and proof of payment will be required.
The application is open to all religious studies majors/minors who are in good academic standing.
Students should visit the program to discuss the parameters of their intended activities, whether it a research project or participation in an academic conference.
Attendence at the annual Lerner Workshop in Religion and Society is not required, but certainly encouraged.
Students can apply at any time.
