The Arts & Science Office of Summer Programs works with departments and program directors on all aspects of study abroad programs, including planning, promotion, advertising, budgeting, student applications and registration.

In the fall, the office works with faculty directors for each site on updating the Summer Study Abroad Bulletin. Planning is discussed regarding the academic program, excursions, housing and activities. Evaluations and final reports from the previous summer are taken into account when determining the program for the following summer.
In the spring, Directors meetings are held to discuss each stage of the planning, including budgets, enrollment goals, the application process, policy and procedures, and registration. We work with the Office of Legal Counsel on agreements with other universities and on safety issues. We produce a Study Abroad Handbook covering all aspects of University policy as it applies to study abroad programs, including grading, advising, drop/add, transcripts, tuition refunds, drugs and alcohol, housing, safety, FERPA and sexual harassment policy.
