Committee On Committees And Rules
Function: The FAS Committee on Committees and Rules is required by FAS by-laws to meet at least once every 5 years to examine and make recommendations about the committee structure and rules of FAS, CAS, and GSAS. The Committee on Committees and Rules last met in academic year 2002/03 and thus would not normally be formed again until academic year 2007/08.
The FAS Policy and Planning Committee (P&P) is the committee with primary responsibility for considering and making recommendations on governance issues. In response to a proposal submitted at the December faculty meeting calling for an examination of faculty governance issues within FAS, P&P has recommended convening the Committee on Committees and Rules a year early for this special purpose.
In particular, the faculty members elected to the 2006/07 Committee on Committees and Rules will work with P&P to design and oversee a FAS-wide examination of governance structures, and to make recommendations for the faculty as whole to consider.
