Special Topics Seminar

The course will cover repertoire study, technical analysis, focus on selected artists including women and minorities as outsiders using institutionalized or idiosyncratic technologies, engagement with genre creation, and with other media including the music video genre. Concepts of embodiment and spatialization of sound will be included in the course, as will be an exploration of manifestations of cultural, expressive, and performative difference in fixed and in real-time generated media. No pre-requisite, although some prior experience with music will be helpful. AREA OF STUDY: ADVANCED COURSE, SONIC ART.
