Faculty in Irish and Irish-American Studies at Glucksman Ireland House at NYU are engaged with a variety of research projects on the history of Irish culture and of Irish performance. Although the MA Program does not offer courses in musical or cultural practice, courses are regularly offered by Global Distinguished Professor Mick Moloney on the History of Irish Music in America, and on Nationalism and Music in Irish History.
Students who wish to be considered for a Scholarship in Irish Cultural Studies should complete the application form and should use the essay question to state how they would take advantage of faculty expertise and course offerings. Which topics do you hope to research? How has previous study prepared you for more advanced work? Are there particular historical or formal problems to which you are drawn?
