Intermediate Modern Greek II

PREREQUISITE: HEL-UA.0105 OR PLACEMENT TEST.

PERMISSION OF THE DEPARTMENT REQUIRED. The course is addressed to students who have already acquired a familiarity with the Modern Greek language. Students are expected to be acquainted with the most significant grammar and syntax structures and to have built basic conversation and writing skills. The main objective of the course is to explore more complex linguistic phenomena and to enrich student’s vocabulary leading to the spontaneous use of the language as it is being spoken and written in Greece today. The course will draw from various expressions of modern Greek culture, such as poetry, music and visual representations, in order to reach a deeper understanding of the language and its association with the contemporary Greek culture.
