Iulian Romanyshyn is a visiting scholar from the IMT Institute for Advanced Studies Lucca, where he is finishing a PhD program in political science. In the past, Iulian was a visiting researcher at the European University Institute in Florence and the Institute for European Studies at Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He also worked in the Policy Department of DG External Policies at the European Parliament and in the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP). In his doctoral research, Iulian studied EU effectiveness in multilateral security negotiations in the areas of arms trade, nuclear non-proliferation and space security. His broader research interests include the EU’s relations with Eastern neighbours, Russia and EU Arctic policy. His research has been published among others in the Journal for Common Market Studies and the International Journal. Iulian holds a Master’s degree in EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges (Belgium) and a Master’s degree in Analysing Europe from Maastricht University (The Netherlands).
Iulian was a Visiting Scholar in the Program of International Relations for the Fall 2017 semester.
