Deutsches Haus at NYU and the Chelsea Music Festival present a panel discussion and performance of Beethoven’s Spring Sonata, John Cage’s Four for string quartet and Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite. Artistic Directors Ken-David & Melinda Lee Masur will lead a panel discussion to include visual artists from the "Measuring Time" exhibit, Festival Lecturer Jan Caeyers and Festival musicians exploring how time and story are transported through music.

Curated in conversation with this year’s Festival theme, the art explores various angles of “measuring time” including rhythm, memory, decay, waiting and aging.

The Chelsea Music Festival vision is to celebrate great music by bringing together world-leading musicians and exciting newcomers to the international stage in the performing, culinary and visual arts. The 2017 Chelsea Music Festival returns for its 8th season with an exploration of its theme “Measuring Time.” From June 9-17, the Festival will present nine days of events throughout the Chelsea neighborhood and beyond in a wide-ranging exploration of pulse and time through the performing, visual and culinary arts.
