About the Musicians:
Kenji Herbert, born to an Austrian father and Japanese mother, has developed a characteristic guitar sound informed by his unique background and influences. He is in demand internationally in a wide range of projects and has toured in the U.S., Europe and Asia performing at such venues as the Blue Note (NYC), New Museum (NYC), Bregenzer Festspielhaus (Austria) and Super Deluxe (Tokyo) a.o. An alumnus of Berklee College of Music (summa cum laude, 2011), he was an inaugural member of its honor program, the Berklee Global Jazz Institute. His debut album “The Way the Light Falls” was released in 2016 on the Inner Circle Music Label.
Simon Jermyn is an electric bassist, guitarist and composer originally from Dublin, Ireland living in Brooklyn, NYC. Simon is a member of many bands including his own critically acclaimed group, Trot A Mouse with Tom Rainey, Ingrid Laubrock and Mat Maneri. He also plays in world renowned drummer, Jim Black’s group ‘Smash and Grab,’ which recently performed music of the iconic composer, John Zorn at the Village Vanguard. Simon was the recipient of a PhD in music from University of Ulster. His albums ‘Hymni’ and ‘Trot A Mouse’ (Skirl Records) have been hailed by critics as works that place him on the vanguard of improvised music.
