Principles of Organic and Biological Chemistry and Laboratory

STUDENT MUST ALSO REGISTER FOR A LABORATORY SECTION. THIS COURSE IS INTENDED FOR COLLEGE OF NURSING & STEINHARDT SCHOOL NUTRITION STUDENTS ONLY. SCIENCE MAJORS NOT PERMITTED AND WILL NOT COUNT TOWARDS CAS REQUIREMENTS. PREREQUISITE - FINAL GRADE OF "C" OR HIGHER IN: CHEM-UA 120.

This one-semester course covers topics such as nomenclature, conformations, stereochemistry, chemical reactions, and synthesis of organic compounds. Fundamentals of biochemistry are introduced, including carbohydrates, lipids, amino acids, peptides, and nucleic acids.
